Amelia reluctantly leaves her infant son Ethan in the care of her mother-in-law Mui Gek during the weekdays while she works. Upon learning that Ethan is not gaining weight quickly enough, Amelia feels guilty and uneasy. When she visits Mui Gek, she notices Ethan's lack of activity, but is dismissed. Tensions grow between Amelia and Mui Gek. One night, Amelia discovers Mui Gek feeding Ethan warm water instead of milk, leading to a confrontation. Furious, Amelia leaves with Ethan.
