Film Facilitation Programme 2024
The Film Facilitation Programme (FFP) is an initiative to develop young local filmmakers, build a connected community, and provide industry mentorship. It consists of two components:
Film Facilitation Collective (FFC): A 3-day forum for media talents under 35, encouraging creative exploration and community engagement. It includes masterclasses by industry experts, collaborative brainstorming for community building and closed-door creative practice round tables.
Film Facilitation Mentorship (FFM): A year-long mentorship for up to 5 youth filmmakers 35 and under, offering $10,000 in seed funding, personalised guidance from internationally acclaimed mentors, and access to distribution and marketing support.

WHAMMY ALCAZAREN (Comedy)
WHAMMY ALCAZAREN is a director and multi-awarded production designer for both film and advertising. He participated in the 2013 13 Little Pictures Film lab in Singapore, 2016 Festival Belluard Bollwek Watch and Talk Residency in Switzerland, and 2024 Berlinale Talents. As production designer, he is a frequent collaborator with directors Carlo Manatad (Whether the Weather is Fine, 2022, Locarno Concorso Cineasti del presente), Raya Martin (Death of Nintendo, 2020, Berlinale Generations) and Sam Manacsa (Cross my Heart and Hope to Die, 2023, Venice Film Festival).
His first short film, BOLD EAGLE, won Best International Short at the Fantasia Film Festival 2023. The film screened in the 61st New York Film Festival and the 40th Edition of the Sundance Film Festival. BOLD EAGLE is available for streaming on the Criterion Channel.
Whammy is in development of his next feature film, Noodles, Our Love was Instant and Forever. He likes cats.
Mattie Do (Horror)
If you’ve met Mattie Do, she’s shown you photos of her dogs. And if you’ve seen any of her movies, then you’ve seen her dogs act in them. Over the years, Mattie’s dogs have starred in a few good ghost stories that have screened at Venice’s Giornate degli Autori, Fantastic Fest, Sitges, Toronto, Tokyo, Busan, and garnered recognition as Laos’ first submission to the 90th Academy Awards.
Mattie also has cats, but the little beasts refuse to take direction.
Komtouch Dew Napattaloong (Documentary)
Komtouch Dew Napattaloong is an artist, filmmaker, and producer from Bangkok. His latest video piece, NO EXORCISM FILM, has been selected at CPH:DOX 2024 (New:Vision competition) and the 68th BFI London Experimenta Strand. His debut feature documentary, HOURS OF OURS, premiered at the Visions du Réel 2023 and screened at SGIFF 2023. Komtouch is also the producer for Thai feature documentaries BREAKING THE CYCLE (Hot Docs 2024, Sheffield DocFest 2024) and SOIL WITHOUT LAND (Visions du Réel 2019, TIDF 2021 Special Jury Prize winner).
Komtouch curated films for the SAC Anthropology Center film festival and monthly screening series and served as Lab Manager for Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC) from 2018 until its closure in 2022. He was a selection committee member for SEAFIC Seed Lab in 2022 and a reading committee member for Purin Pictures’ 2023 Short Film Camp. In 2023, he was a directing mentor for Chiang Rai Film Club and the US Embassy’s “Through the Lens of Climate” documentary workshop, a resident at the Purple Tree writing residency, and guest lectured at Mahidol University on Documentary and Fiction. He also served as the program producer for the Cinema For All pavilion curated by MoMA’s film curator Josh Siegel for the Thailand Biennale 2023. In 2024, Komtouch was selected to join the Berlinale Talents and participated in the Flaherty Film Seminar at the Thai Film Archives.
Jasper Tan (Music Video)
Jasper Tan, professionally known as Vadbibes, is an alternative filmmaker and producer based in Singapore. He is renowned for his exceptional visual direction that breaks conventions and takes viewers on an unexplored journey.
Aiko Masubuchi (Drama)
Aiko Masubuchi is a producer, film programmer and translator based in Tokyo and New York. She produced HAPPYEND (dir. Neo Sora, Venice International Film Festival 2024), RYUICHI SAKAMOTO | OPUS (dir. Neo Sora, Venice International Film Festival 2023), and ONE HUNDRED YEARS AND HOPE (dir. Takashi Nishihara, International Film Festival Rotterdam 2023) as well as short films including THE CHICKEN (dir. Neo Sora, Locarno Film Festival 2020), WHAT IS IT THAT YOU SAID? (dir. Shun Ikezoe, New York Film Festival 2021) and SUGAR GLASS BOTTLE (dir. Neo Sora, winner of Best Narrative Short at IndieMemphis 2022). She was a jury member for the Documentary Shorts Program at Blackstar Film Festival in 2023 and a grants reviewer for IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund the same year. She has programmed film series at places such as Anthology Film Archives, Film Forum, and MoMA and co-founded the short film series GINZAZA in Tokyo.
