About Singapore Youth Film Festival (SYFF)


Presented by *SCAPE, the Singapore Youth Film Festival (SYFF) serves as a national platform celebrating the achievements of exceptional young filmmakers while fostering a deeper appreciation for local films and filmmaking.

Established as the National Youth Film Awards since 2015, the Singapore Youth Film Festival (SYFF) builds upon its legacy of fostering award-winning filmmakers. By partnering with industry experts and educational institutions, SYFF will continue to inspire and nurture the next generation of cinematic visionaries in Singapore.

  • Cinema & Festival Talks: 11 – 21 February 2027
  • Award Ceremony & Bloc Party: 26 February 2027 (subject to changes)

A Legacy of Nurturing Talent


Since its establishment in 2015, NYFA has been pivotal in recognising and nurturing young filmmakers in Singapore. In its past nine editions of the awards, NYFA has introduced diverse award categories, implemented mentorship programmes, and expanded industry partnerships.

These achievements have laid the groundwork for the evolution into SYFF, building on a strong foundation of excellence and innovation in youth filmmaking.

Dedicated to celebrating talent and fostering a community of like-minded enthusiasts, SYFF aims to instil a deeper appreciation for local films and youth filmmakers, nurture aspiring talents, and showcase and provide recognition for the achievements of all young filmmakers.








SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT

  • All submissions must be submitted via the online submission form (Student Category)(Open Youth Category). Any other forms of submission will not be accepted.
  • All submissions must be received no later than 2359hrs (GMT+8) on 26 July 2026.
  • All submissions are required to be uploaded onto the platform listed on the online submission form. Both URL and password (if any) must be provided and made available for viewing till 31 December 2026.
  • All non-English submissions must have English subtitles.
  • Other than professional actor(s) engagement, the Applicant will be required to disclose in the submission form should the submission be outsourced to a company or professional individual for completion or enhancement.
  • Applicants may be required to submit dialogue track or film without music track for the making of the SYFF montage. Shortlisted Nominees will also be required to submit a soft copy of the submitted film.
  • Without prejudice to any other provision herein contain, each submission here under must be an original work. It must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks or other intellectual properties of any person or entity.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • Submissions must represent predominantly human-led creative work. Filmmakers are required to declare any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools at any stage of the filmmaking process, including but not limited to scriptwriting, image or video generation, editing, sound, or visual effects.
    • Fully AI-generated films are not eligible for selection unless otherwise stated. The use of AI as an assistive tool (e.g. for research, planning, or limited post-production support) may be permitted, provided that the core creative decisions remain human-led. Failure to disclose the use of AI may result in disqualification at any stage of the submission or selection process.

Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (16:9 letterbox or pillar box if film is in another native aspect ratio)

Resolution: 1920 x 1080 PROGRESSIVE

Frame Rate: 24 or 25 FPS only

Audio: Stereo Channels, AAC codec, 48kHz sample rate

Maximum Duration: 30 minutes including opening title and closing credits
