Rachel Liew

As one of the few female cinematographers based in Singapore, Rachel hails from a hybridized background in media and advertising. With experience in shooting both film and digital formats, she seeks to explore the fine line between the narrative and commercial world.

Rachel’s graduation short film HAN won her the Laszlo Kovac Golden Tadpole in the Student Etude Competition at the Camerimage Festival in 2016, a unique international festival devoted to cinematography in Poland. In 2017, after being awarded the IMDA scholarship, she gained admission into two prestigious international film schools – the National Film and TV School (NFTS), U.K. and the American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI), U.S.A. to do her Masters in Cinematography, choosing the former.

She now moves between Singapore and London and she hopes to be able to lend her voice in more works as an image-maker.
