Ben Tan Kai Xiang is an animator and illustrator who graduated from Nanyang Technological University School of Art Design and Media with a BFA(Highest Distinction) in Media Art.

Growing up in sunny sunny Singapore, he loves to tell stories familiar to both him, Singaporeans and, with luck, people from around the world. Stories about the places he’s been to, the wonderful people he has met and the experiences he’s lived through on this island home.

As an animator with a deep love for the tactility and formal beauty of traditional art, he blends the sensitivity of traditional art making with the whimsy of animation to find new ways of seeing that are both bold and fun.

His films have been shown locally at Cartoons Underground, having won the Golden Durian and Audience Choice Award in 2023, and internationally at Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, Kaboom Animation Festival and Insomnia Animation Festival in 2024.

He hopes to continue making strange and wonderful films, and doing the things he loves!
