Contact

Chua Joon See, Charmaine

Charmaine is an Asian female filmmaker whose work combines poetry and filmic storytelling to intimately explore the human experience. Her creative practice centres on the Asian cultural identity and the haunted psyche, exposing an unspoken trauma of everyday Singaporeans.

Her short documentary, 缓行龟 (the turtle that moves slowly), premiered at Singapore Shorts 2025 organised by Asian Film Archive. The film has since travelled to international film festivals in Korea, Russia and Canada.

A multidisciplinary practitioner, Charmaine has gained valuable hands-on experience through her internship at Akanga Film Asia, DSTNCT and freelance work across narrative and commercial projects. She has taken on key creative roles such as script supervisor, videographer, colourist, editor and production assistant.

Charmaine aims to collaborate with like-minded creators locally and internationally while honing her craft in the experimental realm, developing short films that enrich her creative vision and resonate with global audiences.
