Clare Chong works with undertones of the mundane, focusing on issues prevalent in ordinary life such as the wink of an eye, the slight curl of the lips, and a twitch in the ears. Her subjects are the quiet outcasts of society, often overlooked, and her works challenge traditional means of gazing and observing—questioning the extent to which we impose our preconceived notions,
judgments, and opinions onto an image.
Chong completed her International Baccalaureate Diploma at SOTA School of the Arts andher Bachelor's Degree in Film at Lasalle College of the Arts. As a film director and video artist, her portfolio spans short films, music videos, documentaries, commercials, experimental films, video art,
live visuals, projection mapping, and video installation pieces.
In addition to her film and video work, Chong is deeply involved in placemaking, large-scale art installations, and programming for arts in the community. She aims to transform public spaces, making art accessible and engaging for everyone. She believes in the power of art to celebrate spaces, moments in time, and the lives of individuals and the community.
