Philycia is a creative who has been drawn to storytelling and visual expression from an early age. Her passion for narrative and design led her to pursue a degree in communications at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, where she explored the intersection of media, creativity, and human connection. She believes in the power of media to shift perspectives, spark dialogue, and inspire change.
Most recently, she worked as the editor for After the Tone (2024), a 14-minute documentary on grief and bereavement. The film interweaves the stories of three individuals navigating loss, framed through the symbolism of a telephone booth and the changing seasons of nature. For Philycia, editing was not only about assembling footage but also about shaping rhythm, emotion, and silence, which allowed the themes of love and remembrance to resonate deeply.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue crafting stories that bring empathy to overlooked experiences and create meaningful connections with audiences
